Bottom type mapping

The DrDepth BT edition is an extended version of DrDepth that adds functions to map bottom type (hardness). Information on bottom hardness can be extracted from Lowrance/Eagle and Humminbird sonar log files, and data can also be read in real time from sonar units with Lowrance Ethernet.

Requirements

To map bottom type, sonar data in the following formats is supported:

• Lowrance/Eagle 'slg' data (now all quality levels). Lowrance/Eagle combined GPS/sounders with memory card slot are capable of recording this data.
• Humminbird 'dat/son' data. Most 7/9/1100 series combined GPS/sounders with memory card slot are capable of recording this data (it is not restricted to SI units!).
• Lowrance ethernet. If you sounder or combo unit has a Lowrance Ethernet port you can use DrDepth to map bottom type in real time.

Features

• Extraction of hardness data from recorded Lowrance/Eagle and Humminbird sonar data.

The BT edition has been tested with data from 2008 Lowrance LCX and LMS models and Humminbird 997, but is expected to work with data from older units as well. The BT edition also works with data from the new Lowrance HDS, though at this point only HDS data from shallow water has been tested.

Using the version with bottom type mapping is very similar to using the standard version of DrDepth. The map of bottom hardness is found automatically if the data contains entries for hardness. You can export maps and map data (contours) with hardness just like you can with depth data. Data without hardness information can be combined with data that has it.

Pricing:

• If you already have DrDepth, an upgrade to the BT edition costs €125 incl. VAT for customers within the EU. Customers outside the EU pay €100 (~139USD) (no VAT).
• If you do not have DrDepth, you need the standard DrDepth version as well. The price is then €224 incl. VAT for customers within the EU. Customers outside the EU pay €179 (~249USD) (no VAT).

There is no demo available for the BT edition. Necessary files are distributed directly to the end customer. The video below gives a glimpse of what it is all about!
